Day 1: Pasta, Sunsets & the Soul of the City
📅 Date: 7th July 2025
✈️ From London Skies to Neapolitan Sunshine
We kicked off our summer escape with an early morning flight from London to Naples, landing under the golden southern Italian sun. The moment we stepped out of the airport, the warm Mediterranean air and the lively buzz of Napoli greeted us like an old friend.
🚇 Into the Heart of Naples
Our journey into the city began with a bus ride, followed by a metro trip, giving us our first authentic taste of Neapolitan life — bustling stations, fast-talking locals, and the ever-present aroma of espresso. Naples doesn’t ease you in — it throws you straight into its rhythm, and we loved it.
We checked into Silia House, a cozy and welcoming spot in the heart of the city. After a quick nap to recover from our early start, it was time for our first true Italian meal.
🍝 Pasta, Lobster & Local Flavour
Wandering the nearby streets, we stumbled upon a small family-run trattoria — the kind where the pasta is made fresh and the menu changes with the day. We ordered a simple yet delicious pasta, and a heavenly lobster pasta that instantly made us regret not arriving hungrier.
To finish off, I had a velvety gelato, the perfect cool treat in the afternoon heat, while my husband sipped on a strong, refreshing iced coffee — smooth, bold, and oh-so-Italian.
😴 Siesta Time
Back at Silia House, we indulged in a well-earned two-hour nap. There's something about the pace of Naples that gives you permission to slow down — and we embraced it completely.
🏛️ Golden Hour in the Streets of History
Refreshed, we headed back out in the early evening. We walked through Naples’ historic streets, passing ancient buildings, piazzas, and hidden alleyways that seem unchanged by time. The city’s chaotic charm was alive around every corner — scooters zipping by, kids playing football, and old men chatting on stoops.
🌋 Sunset with Vesuvius
As the light began to fade, we made our way to the waterfront and were greeted by an unforgettable view: Mount Vesuvius, standing silently across the bay as the sun dipped behind the cityscape. We sat on the beach, soaking in the sea breeze and the fiery sky, feeling like we were in a postcard. It was a peaceful, magical moment we’ll never forget.
🍕 A Dinner Worth the Flight
Our day ended on the most delicious note at La Lazzara Trattoria e Pizzeria — a place that locals love and now, so do we. We shared a perfectly blistered Margherita DOP pizza, devoured a creamy spaghetti alla carbonara, and treated ourselves to Delizia al Limone, a lemon dessert that was airy, zesty, and pure joy on a plate.
🌙 Back Through the Quiet Streets
Bellies full and hearts happy, we wandered back through Naples’ quiet evening streets. The energy had mellowed, the air was cooler, and the city felt like it was exhaling after a long day. We returned to Silia House, ready for rest and already excited for tomorrow.

🌞 Morning Mood: Caffeine & Croissants
We woke up to our final morning in Naples with sunlight streaming through the window and the city already buzzing outside. After freshening up, we started our day the Italian way — with a steaming cup of coffee and a buttery local croissant from a nearby café. Simple, satisfying, and so very Naples.
Back at the hotel, I jumped into a quick shower and picked out the perfect outfit for our last wander: a white skirt paired with a red top — the colors of Italy, completely unplanned but very on-brand! I felt cute and ready to take on our final stroll through the soul of the city.
🧳 Check-Out & One Last City Stroll
We packed up, said goodbye to Silia House, and checked out. But the day was far from over. With time to spare, we set off to soak up every last bit of Naples’ charm.
🚶♀️ Walking the Pulse of Naples: Via Toledo, Spanish Quarters & Spaccanapoli
We took our time wandering through Via Toledo, one of Naples’ most famous shopping streets. It was alive with locals, chatter, fashion, and endless energy. We ducked into side alleys and soon found ourselves in the Spanish Quarters — a maze of narrow streets with hanging laundry, buzzing scooters, and colorful balconies that felt like stepping into a film set.
From there, we strolled into the beating heart of the old city: Spaccanapoli. Every corner here tells a story — from ancient churches and artisan shops to the street vendors selling trinkets and sweets. We couldn’t resist grabbing a few fridge magnets as souvenirs to remember this beautiful chaos.
🐟 A Seafood Finale at Pescheria Azzurra Gagliotta
For our last meal in Naples, we saved something truly special — lunch at Pescheria Azzurra Gagliotta, a spot that locals love for ultra-fresh seafood. And wow… what a send-off.
We shared plates of smoked marinated salmon and lemon-marinated sea bass, both so fresh they practically melted in our mouths. The flavors were light, zesty, and absolutely unforgettable — the kind of meal you daydream about long after the trip ends.
✈️ Ciao, Napoli – Until Next Time
With full hearts (and stomachs), we made our way back to the airport. Still not quite ready to say goodbye, we indulged in one last classic Italian treat: a simple, satisfying plate of spaghetti at the terminal. Because honestly, when in Italy — even airport pasta is better.
